Family Curriculum Workshop in Tanzania

The first programme of the Family Curriculum was launched on 13 February 2025 in Tanzania with a two-day workshop. After months of thorough preparation, which included translation and adaptation of materials into Swahili and involved input from speech and language therapists, as well as international and local rehabilitation specialists, the HearWell Audiology Clinic set out to implement the programme locally for parents of children with cochlear implants and hearing aids.

Roadmap to Sustainability

Within the recent meeting at the Ministry of Health of Bhutan we worked out a plan for a sustainable implementation of the project elements of the Hearing Healthcare Alliance. Many thanks to our local partners and decision makers for the fruitful discussions!

Strengthening the Partnership

Since 2018 the Hearing Healthcare Alliance (HHA) has been supporting Bangladesh in many ways. During our latest trip to Dhaka we could meet the hearing healthcare experts of several institutions and discuss the further implementation of the HHA’s project elements. Newborn Hearing Screening for All

In 2022 the Hearing Healthcare Alliance (HHA) started a pilot project for universal Newborn Hearing Screening (NHS) at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. Thanks to a collaboration with the South Tyrolean “World Doctors” a similar programme could be established in Dulikhel Hospital. In a recent meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Health of Nepal we could discuss the outcomes and learnings of the NHS projects.

Open Rehabilitation Workshop in Islamabad

A workshop on paediatric hearing rehabilitation was held on 27 February in CDA Hospital in Islamabad led by two international experts: MaryKay Therres and Sandra Eisner.

World Hearing Day at CMH Rawalpindi

On 26 February 2025 Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi, the major army health institution in Pakistan held an event celebrating the World Hearing Day. A number of high-rank hearing healthcare officials from all over Pakistan honoured the event by their attendance. It was hosted by the head of the ENT Department – Major General Maqbool Raza. Attending Pakistani experts raised awareness on the importance of Newborn hearing screening, treatment of hearing loss and the importance of access to hearing devices, including Cochlear Implants.

New PCHR Islamabad

The third PCHR group started the course with the first session in Islamabad on 23 February 2025 in the CDA Hospital. 12 experienced local professionals who work with hearing technology recipients took part in the first four-day session. Among them were 4 participants who work in rural remote regions where very few therapists have to support a high number of patients.

Audiology Workshop in Islamabad

On 24 February 2025 six hearing healthcare professionals took part in an Audiology Workshop in Islamabad. These participating audiologists and ENT surgeons received intensive training. The experienced MED-EL clinical specialist, Sören Jetzinger, instructed the participants about the implications of the intersection of otological surgery and audiology.

Audiology Workshop in Karachi

On 23 February an Audiology workshop took place in Karachi. The workshop was led by the experienced Austrian clinical specialist Sören Jetzinger from MED-EL. Seven participating audiologists received highly informative training on audiology and technical handling of hearing devices.
