Public health approaches to hearing impairment systematically treat and prevent hearing loss. This capability is urgently needed. The number of people requiring rehabilitation for hearing loss will increase from 430 to over 700 million by 2050 with low- and middle-income countries over-represented. The twenty-five participants of this five-day course have joined a global network of professionals who are skilled developing and implementing public health programmes to address hearing impairment.
The Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation, seeks to ensure that sustainable development works to the benefit of all people in Africa, Asia, Southeast Europe and the South Caucasus. Together with partner countries, public institutions, civil society organisations and businesses, ADA is currently implementing projects and programs with a total volume of 500 million euros.
