The Hearing Healthcare Alliance – a Public-Private-Partnership project of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the Innsbruck based company MED-EL (for more details see www.hearinghealthcare.medel.com) , played a crucial role in the programme’s set-up and implementation. Thanks to the joint efforts of the local educational institution and international specialists, Bangladeshi audiologists and speech therapists get the highest standard professional training, which they can use to help the growing number of people suffering from hearing impairment in their homeland.

The meeting with the students was especially significant in view of the recent dramatic political events, in which students from all over the country and different educational institutions were actively involved. In this respect the meeting’s participants could openly express their opinions on their current situation in general and the status of the bachelor degree programme for Audiology and Speech Language Pathology in particular.

During the meeting Dr Christian Steppan and Sebastian Holler – the leading representatives of the HHA, used this opportunity of a personal meeting with all the parties involved in the project to discuss the achievements, challenges and prospects of the education programme. The mutual opinion about its positive outcomes so far left all the participants convinced of their fruitful collaboration in future.
